S-6123 is a potentantimicrobialcompound of theoxazolidinoneseries. S-6123 inhibits ribosomal protein synthesis without inhibiting DNA or RNA synthesis^[1].

S-6123 exhibits potent antimicrobial activity against gram-positive bacterias,Streptococcus pyogenes;Streptococcus agalactiae; Group C and Gstreptococci; Viridans groupstreptococci, penicillin susceptible; and Viridans groupstreptococci, penicillin resistant with MIC values of 16 μg/ml; 32 μg/ml; 16 μg/ml; 16 μg/ml; 8 μg/ml; 32 μg/ml, respectively.
