CC -!- FUNCTION: Has potent hemolytic activity against ovine erythrocytes at
CC micromolar concentrations. Also exhibits strong antimicrobial activity
CC against the fungi B.cinerea (MIC=0.5 ug/ml) and C.albicans, and
CC moderate activity against the Gram-positive bacterium S.aureus (MIC=25
CC ug/ml) and the Gram-negative bacterium E.coli. Venom peptide 2-long has
CC substantially lower antimicrobial activity against C.albicans (MIC=100
CC ug/ml) and bacteria than Orancis-protonectin but has equivalent
CC activity against B.cinerea (MIC=0.5 ug/ml).
