CC -!- FUNCTION: Catalyzes the oxidation of aldehydes to the corresponding
CC carboxylate by coupling the reaction to the reduction of dioxygen to
CC hydrogen peroxide. Substrates include glyoxal and other aldehydes
CC (Probable). Does not have enzymatic activity on D-galactose
CC (PubMed:29220102). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:29220102, ECO:0000305}.
CC -!- CATALYTIC ACTIVITY:
CC Reaction=an aldehyde + H2O + O2 = a carboxylate + H(+) + H2O2;
CC Xref=Rhea:RHEA:16829, ChEBI:CHEBI:15377, ChEBI:CHEBI:15378,
CC ChEBI:CHEBI:15379, ChEBI:CHEBI:16240, ChEBI:CHEBI:17478,
CC ChEBI:CHEBI:29067; EC=1.2.3.1; Evidence={ECO:0000305};
CC -!- SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm {ECO:0000269|PubMed:30970365}.
CC Note=Localized around nucleus. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:30970365}.
CC -!- TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed in pollen (at protein level).
CC {ECO:0000269|PubMed:29220102, ECO:0000269|PubMed:30970365}.
CC -!- PTM: The N-terminus is blocked. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:29220102}.
CC -!- PTM: Glycosylated. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:29220102}.
CC -!- MASS SPECTROMETRY: Mass=61954.35; Method=MALDI; Note=The measured mass
CC is that of the mature protein.; Evidence={ECO:0000269|PubMed:29220102};
CC -!- ALLERGEN: Causes an allergic reaction in human. Binds to IgE of
CC patients allergic to mugwort pollen (PubMed:29220102, PubMed:30155917).
CC The natural protein binds to IgE in 94% and 95% of the 113 Chinese and
CC 20 Dutch patients tested, respectively. The natural protein gives a
CC positive reaction in 50% of the 14 Chinese patients tested by
CC intradermal skin testing. All except one of these positives are also
CC positive by ImmunoCAP test. The recombinant protein binds to IgE in 4%
CC and 50% of the 54 Chinese and 20 Dutch patients tested, respectively.
CC The lack of IgE-binding to the recombinant protein is not due to the
CC absence of cross-reactive carbohydrate determinants (CCD), although in
CC a subset of (Dutch) sera CCD does seem to play a role in the IgE
CC recognition (PubMed:29220102). Binds to IgE in 80% of the 240 Chinese
CC patients tested. Adult group has a significantly lower IgE level than
CC the child and teenager group. The patients from Southwestern China have
CC significantly lower frequency of sensitization and lower IgE levels
CC against this protein than the patients from Northern China. Patients
CC allergic to multiple Artemisia allergens, including Art an 7, Art v 1
CC and Art v 3, have a higher risk of developing allergic asthma
CC (PubMed:30155917). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:29220102,
CC ECO:0000269|PubMed:30155917}.
