Humanin is a 24 amino acid peptide expressed in various organs, also in the brain and the Alzheimer Disease brain. In laboratory experiments, it has been shown to play a role as a neuroprotective factor, protecting against apoptosis induced by multiple different familial Alzheimer disease genes and amyloid-beta proteins in Alzheimer disease. This antibody was generated by immunization of rabbits with Humanin coupled to a carrier protein.
